Botox®
Botox® injection therapy is achieved by using Botulinum toxin which is a chemical produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. The medication used to relax the muscles is derived from this toxin, and when injected into a muscle it relaxes them by stopping chemical messages being sent from the nerve to the muscle. In high concentrations Botulinum is toxic, however cosmetic use only requires minute doses to be used, and thus it is effective and very safe. Botulinum injections are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world. Celebrities are rumoured to be keeping the wrinkles at bay this way.
A free consultation will establish your suitability for treatment and allow time to discuss the procedure in full. The treatment only takes about 15 minutes after an anaesthetic cream has been applied to the skin to minimise any discomfort. A very fine needle is used to inject the muscle relaxing drug into the appropriate area. Slight discomfort may be felt. The area may show slight redness and swelling, but this normally resolves in an hour or two.

How long will the effect last?
You may notice some change within the first 2 to 3 days but usually the full effect can be seen after 2 weeks following the treatment. The initial results can last on an average of 3 to 4 months at this point the muscles will progressively regain their strength. Further treatments will maintain the desired effect for longer periods.
Are there any side effects?
No serious side effects have been reported using this method of wrinkle reducing in cosmetic treatment. Rarely a temporary drooping of the eyelid can occur, but this will always resolve within a few weeks.
